Preparing for Your Visit

Forest Fringe Farm is an active, evolving land project rooted in ecology rather than polish. Preparing well will help you stay comfortable, grounded, and open to the experience.

What to Wear
The terrain is rugged, wet in places, and not ADA accessible. Waterproof boots or sturdy shoes you don’t mind getting muddy are essential. Dress in layers, as weather can shift quickly, and bring rain gear during shoulder seasons. Long pants are recommended for moving through meadows and forest edges.

What to Bring
If you’re camping or staying on site, plan to be largely self-sufficient. Bring your own tent, sleeping bag, bedding, flashlight or headlamp, reusable water bottle as well as dozens of gallons of clean drinking water, and any personal comfort items you need to feel settled outdoors. Sunscreen, bug spray, and any required medications are strongly encouraged.

Facilities & Amenities
The farm uses low-impact infrastructure. Amenities include a compost toilet, outdoor shower, and a pop-up field kitchen with limited refrigeration and prep space. Electricity and cell service may be intermittent—consider this part of the invitation to unplug.

Accessibility & Mobility
Paths are uneven, narrow, and often soft underfoot. Guests should be comfortable walking on wet ground, gentle slopes, and forest debris. If you have specific access needs, we encourage reaching out in advance to discuss whether the site will be supportive for you.

Mindset
Come prepared to move slowly. Forest Fringe Farm is a place of listening—to land, to weather, to one another. Plans may adapt to conditions, and that flexibility is part of the experience. Curiosity, patience, and care go a long way here.
