Plan Your U-Pick Visit

Come spend a slow, sweet day in the blueberry meadow at Forest Fringe Farm.

Our U-Pick days are a chance to wander the bushes, listen to the birds, and bring home fruit you picked with your own hands.

This is low-key, nature-forward time: no big crowds, just you, the land, and a whole lot of berries.

When is U-Pick Open?

Blueberry U-Pick typically runs July-early August, depending on the weather, ripening and length of the short berry season.

Each season we announce:
  • Opening weekend
  • Weekly U-Pick days and hours
  • Any rain or heat closures

Check our U-Pick calendar on Instagram to makek sure the field is open that day.

What does it cost?

You only pay for the berries you take home.

$6 per pint
$30 per 6-pint flat (great for households and friennd groups)

We accept cash, card, and Zelle at check out. Kids are welcme and there’s no entry free—you just pay for what you pick.

What to Expect on the Land

The farm is rugged, long and narrow, and often wet, especially after rain.

The terrain includes:
  • Three meadows (blueberry orchard in the second meadow (and all over)
  • Forest edges with lots of natural overgrowth and forest decay
  • Uneven ground, tall grasses, and occasional mud

The site is not ADA accessible a this time. Expect a short walk on uneven ground from parking to the blueberry meadow.

What to Bring

To make your visit more comfortable, we recommend:
  • Waterproof boots or sturdy shoes (rubber boots are ideal)
  • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, light layers)
  • Bug spray
  • Reusable water bottle
  • A small bag or cooler for taking berries home

We provide picking containers, but you’re welcome to bring your own clean container if your prefer.

On-site Facilities

Our infrastructure is simple and ecological:
  • Compost toilet
  • Studio handwashing station (rainwater catchment)
  • Outdoor shower (for campers and overnight guests)
  • Activities deck for resting and small gatherings

There is no traditional indoor bathroom and no on-site café, so please plan snacks and meals accordingly.

Kids, Groups & Pets

  • Kids are welcome. Please supervise children closely around tools, uneven terrain, and the pond and forest edges.
  • If you’re bringing a group of 8+, please contact us in advance so we can plan for parking and field capacity.
  • For the safety of the farm, wildlife, and other guests, pets are only allowed by prior arrangement and must remain leashed at all times if approved.

Weather & Cancellations

Because our land in naturally wet and sensitive:
  • Heavy rain can make paths and meadows very muddy and slippery
  • We may close U-Pick on short notice during or after major storms to protext both visitors and the plantings
  • Check updates on our website or social media the morning of your visits.

Farm Etiquette

We’re a working ecological farm.

To help us care for this land:
  • Stay within designtaed U-Pick areas
  • Don’t climb on structures, equipment or greenhouse
  • Leave plants, wildlife, and non-U-Pick crops undisturbed
  • Pack out all trash or use provided bins/compost
  • Be gentle with brushpick berries not branches
