Facilities & Features


Forest Fringe Farm provides functional, low-impact infrastructure designed to support outdoor programming, creative work, and multi-day gatherings. Infrastructure is intentionally adaptable and evolving based on program needs and seasonal capacity.

This is rural land—not a polished venue. Facilities are practical, minimal, and designed for groups comfortable with outdoor conditions and off-grid systems.




Infrastructure Overview


Pop-up Field Kitchen

  • Propane grill (3-burner)
  • Mini fridge
  • Slope sink for dish washing
  • Food prep tables (folding)
  • Basic cooking utensils and supplies
  • Weather-protected setup (tarps/canopy when needed)

Note: Firewood and propane refills are not included in standard bookings. Available as add-on services.

Capacity: Supports meal prep for 30–50 people comfortably. Post-well expansion will increase to 60–75 people.


Sanitation

  • Composting toilet: Low-impact, regularly maintained, weather-protected
  • Outdoor shower: Solar-heated, rainwater catchment system (seasonal availability)
  • Additional sanitation: Portable units available for large events (arranged in advance)

Current capacity: 1 composting toilet (second unit being added summer 2026)

Standard access includes:

  • Equipment rentals (chairs, tables, canopies—available as add-ons)
  • Catering or meal service
  • Trash removal (available as add-on)
  • Transportation to/from site
  • High-power electricity or Wi-Fi


Camping & Lodging



Groups bring their own tents and camping gear. 
No permanent indoor lodging or furnished accommodations provided.


Campsite features:

  • Canopy campsite under tree cover (protects from sun/light rain)
  • Wild blueberry bushes provide natural windbreak
  • Open meadow areas for additional tent placement
  • Uneven terrain—groups should expect rural ground conditions


Not provided: Tents, sleeping bags, camping gear, indoor shelter




Farm Spaces


Production Studio

  • Small enclosed structure with slope sink and basic supplies
  • Solar-powered
  • Semi-private workspace for residency participants
  • Not suitable as primary event space

Open Meadows

  • Three connected meadow areas for dispersed programming
  • Flexible setup for large group gatherings, performances, or movement work
  • Seasonal water runoff in spring—check with site coordinator for wet conditions

Activities Deck ("The Hex")

  • Multi-use platform for workshops, meals, informal gatherings
  • Weather-exposed (groups should plan for tarps/canopy if rain expected)
  • Seating capacity: ~20–30 people comfortably






Water Systems


Current status (pre-well):

  • Rainwater catchment for outdoor shower (seasonal)
  • Non-potable water systems for washing/cleaning
  • Hauled water for drinking/cooking (arranged in advance for large groups)

Post-well (March 2026):

  • Dedicated well with reliable water access
  • Increased capacity for multi-day events and larger groups
  • Improved kitchen and sanitation scalability

Natural Areas

  • Three meadows: Main gathering zones, flexible programming space
  • Forest edges: Wooded areas for quiet work, walking, exploration
  • Wetlands: Seasonal water features, ecologically dynamic
  • Blueberry orchard: Small-scale production, available for guest foraging (seasonal)
  • Greenhouse: Small growing structure (not available for guest use)

  • Birch Ridge Pond: Short walk from the site, swimming access (seasonal)
  • Trail systems: Informal walking paths through forest and meadow

    Forest Fringe Farm is rural, uneven terrain with limited accessibility infrastructure.


    Current limitations:
    • No ADA-accessible pathways or facilities
    • Uneven ground, seasonal mud, natural obstacles
    • Outdoor-only programming spaces
    • Composting toilet not wheelchair accessible
    • Limited lighting at night

    What we can accommodate:
    • Advance site visits to assess specific needs
    • Flexible programming layout
    • Custom equipment arrangements (with advance notice)
    • Coordination on accessible sanitation solutions (case-by-case)

    Spring (April–May):
    • Wet conditions, seasonal flooding in low meadow areas
    • Limited water catchment (well coming March 2026)
    • Cooler temps, expect rain gear

    Summer (June–August):
    • Peak season, best weather for outdoor programming
    • Bugs (mosquitoes, ticks—bring repellent)
    • Hot days, minimal shade in meadows

    Fall (September–October):
    • Cooler temps, fewer bugs
    • Beautiful foliage, harvest season
    • Earlier sunset times

    Winter (November–March):
    • Limited bookings, challenging conditions
    • Snow, mud, freezing temps
    • Infrastructure winterized (reduced capacity)
